BioFreedom to travel
Freedom to disappear for moments
Freedom from the gaze of a queer poet
reading my poems over my shoulder.
Standing in grass up to my knees
while you wash off the last vomit stains,
one too many hip hop beats
I need the beauty of Rossini
and open roads.
The rice bowl is empty and
we're out of soy sauce
but the chopsticks are clean.
Two jobs and classes
and an attempt to be a world class poet.
My life is surrounded.
Haircuts at home and chopping ice out of the fridge
Pulling imaginary insects out of my ears
Hearing real insects climb and fall off the wall
landing on my bed.
Poems flutter in the wind,
but sometimes
my dirty feet
stomp them to the ground.
